Marlar rallies to sixth-place finish in Big Frog debut
Making his first start aboard the Big Frog Motorsports No. 58 Late Model, Mike Marlar invaded Atomic Speedway (Alma, Ohio) on Thursday evening for the second round of the Castrol FloRacing Night in America. Drawing 28 cars for the Fireball 50, Mike timed in fourth fastest in his group before fading back in his heat to finish eighth. Recording a runner-up finish in his B-Main behind Jimmy Owens, Marlar locked into the 20th-starting position for the $22,000-to-win A-Main. Coming one spot shy of a Top-5 finish, Mike Marlar marched forward 14 spots in the 50-lapper to register a sixth-place finish. (Jim DenHamer photo).
On Friday night, Marlar and the Big Frog team entered the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series-sanctioned event at Richmond Raceway (Richmond, Ky.). In a field of 29 cars, Marlar edged his way into the main event with the fourth-and-final transfer spot in his heat race. With $10,000 on the line, Mike passed three cars in the 40-lap affair to come in 11th.
An unfavorable forecast nixed Saturday’s night World of Outlaws stop at Brushcreek Motorsports Complex (Peebles, Ohio).
